I Samuel 1:15-19
“Hannah said, ‘Oh no, sir—please! I’m a woman brokenhearted. I haven’t been drinking. Not a drop of wine or beer. The only thing I’ve been pouring out is my heart, pouring it out to GOD. Don’t for a minute think I’m a bad woman. It’s because I’m so desperately unhappy and in such pain that I’ve stayed here so long.’ 17 Eli answered her, ‘Go in peace. And may the God of Israel give you what you have asked of him.’ 18 ’Think well of me—and pray for me!’ she said, and went her way. Then she ate heartily, her face radiant. 19 Up before dawn, they worshiped GOD and returned home to Ramah. Elkanah slept with Hannah his wife, and GOD began making the necessary arrangements in response to what she had asked.”
“‘Oh no, sir!’ she replied. ‘I haven’t been drinking wine or anything stronger. But I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the LORD. Don’t think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.’ ‘In that case,’ Eli said, ‘go in peace! May the God of Israel grant the request you have asked of him.’ ‘Oh, thank you, sir!’ she exclaimed. Then she went back and began to eat again, and she was no longer sad. The entire family got up early the next morning and went to worship the LORD once more. Then they returned home to Ramah. When Elkanah slept with Hannah, the LORD remembered her plea, and in due time she gave birth to a son. ”
The Message – Hannah was pressed to her limit. Only GOD knows where our limits are. Hannah poured out her heart to GOD. He is the only safe and effective receptacle for our heart. GOD gave Hannah confirmation through Eli. I can look for confirmation in my life too. I love that, ‘GOD began making the necessary arrangements in response to what she had asked.’ He is intimately involved in my life’s circumstances. It is the same for every person on earth. How big my GOD is!
LORD, praise and glory to you, the only true Holy Spirit, my Father and my LORD Jesus Christ.
