Jeremiah 17:9-10
“‘The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, GOD, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.’”
“‘The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.’”
My heart is sore today. I hurt from relations that have gone awry and people who have let me down. But I choose to focus instead on my Lord’s ability to sort and order that which has fallen into pain and confusion. He is the only one who can heal my aching heart.
Lord, you know what is broken. Please get to the root of it and fix me. May I only look to you for approval and purpose. Protect me from Satan’s barbs of worthlessness and failure and heal my depression. Please provide opportunities to repair relationships. Pave the way by working in the hearts of others involved. Guide me for your glory.
