Hebrews 6:18-20

We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us, in the order of Melchizedek.
— The Message
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.
— New Living Translation

I do run for my life to God. He is the only hope for me and the evil and heartache surrounding me. He is the only one who makes things work right. I hold tight to him, my spiritual lifeline that carries me into God’s presence where I am released from my sin self to be my true self. I love the image of Jesus running on ahead of me running after. It is easier to follow the path because it is not yet blurred with time.

Genesis says about Melchizedek only that he was a priest of God most high. He briefly enters Abraham’s story to bless him How many Melchizedeks has God placed throughout time? We tend to darken the past we do not know. Yet God was there, ever reaching out and giving light for all men to live by through the creation and other Melchizedeks.

Lord Jesus, give me strength to run my race well, following the path you have broken before me to the Father. I long to see the world healed. Show me what to do. Let me be a healer for you.
